How to choose an AI support agent for a small SaaS team
Most AI support agents handle an easy question well in a demo. The differences show up when a question isn’t in your docs, when an answer turns out to be wrong, and when the invoice arrives. Ask these questions of any tool you consider, Replai included.
Does the Team plan include single sign-on?
Answered by AI
Yes. SAML single sign-on is included on the Team plan. Turn it on in Settings → Security.

Where do the answers come from?
For a SaaS product, answers should come from your own documentation, help center and repository, and you should be able to see which source each answer used. An answer you can’t trace is an answer you can’t fix.
A Replai Agent answers from the knowledge sources you add: files, web pages, whole websites, Google Drive, GitHub repositories and text you write. For each reply, the Agent’s conversation view and the preview show the sources and rules it used. Knowledge sources covers what to add first.
What happens when it doesn’t know?
When the docs don’t cover a question, the agent should bring in a person instead of guessing. Ask how it decides to hand off, whether a customer can ask for a person at any point, and whether your team receives the conversation so far.
Replai hands a conversation to your team when the customer asks for a person or uses a handoff word, when the Agent can’t answer, or when the customer is frustrated. Your team replies from the shared Inbox and can return the conversation to the AI. The questions it could not answer collect in Unanswered questions. See Human handoff.
Can you check answers before customers see them?
Starting with drafts lets you judge an agent on your real conversations without risking a wrong answer. Look for a mode where people send every reply, and for a way to test a change before it goes live.
Replai has two reply modes: “It answers, hands off when needed” and “People answer, it only drafts”, where a teammate approves, edits or rejects each draft. Before you publish a change, you can try questions in the preview and rerun saved tests.
Does it work where your customers already write?
Customers rarely switch channels to get support. List the channels you use today, including group chats if your customers use them, and check that each one is available now.
Replai works in a website chat widget, on your site or inside your app, on LINE Official Accounts in one-to-one and group chats, and on Gmail, Messenger and Instagram. WhatsApp is not available. See Channels.
What exactly are you paying for?
AI support is priced per seat, per conversation or per resolution. Whatever the model, ask what one unit is, what is free, and what happens when a case turns out not to be solved.
Replai charges only for support cases the AI resolves on its own, with no monthly or seat fees. Per-resolution or per-seat compares the models and shows how to estimate a month.
Who has to be involved in setup?
Ask what setup takes and who has to take part: a developer, the admin of each channel, or only you. The answer tells you how soon a real customer gets a reply.
In Replai you sign in with Google, add knowledge, try questions in the preview, connect a channel and publish. LINE needs no developer, and the website widget is one script tag. If your team works in Claude Code or Codex, the setup can run from there: see Set up a support Agent from Claude Code or Codex.
Who keeps it accurate after launch?
Docs change and new questions arrive, so an agent needs someone who owns its knowledge. Ask how you find the questions it missed and how a correction reaches customers.
Replai lists Unanswered questions, refreshes a changed source with Re-import and lets you rerun saved tests. Edits stay in the Agent’s draft until you publish them.
When a different kind of tool fits better
An AI agent that answers from documentation is the wrong tool when most of your support is account work, when every reply needs a judgment call, or when your customers need a channel it doesn’t cover.
- A few messages a week: people answering in a shared inbox is simpler. AI support agent vs shared inbox compares the two.
- Mostly refunds, plan changes or orders: you need tooling that acts in your billing or admin systems. Replai answers questions and hands off; it does not change customer accounts.
- WhatsApp or phone support: Replai covers neither.
